Meta tags play a huge role in <a HREF="http://www.rd-software.net/seo.php" rel="nofollow">SEO Wales</a>. These dictate which niche you want your site to be searched for. In any case, you may want your meta tags to have high ranking keywords with less competition if you're lucky to find one.

I also ensure that my page url, title and meta description all contain the same keyword as often as I can because I find that helps to ensure every page has its own unique description.

I was effected by the change, but I can also understand the change, I just wish they would explain it better.

To me, it seems obvious. It's not just Web Design / SEO companies that have been removed from local business results, but virtually every web-based company.

Why? It seems very clear to me; because anything web-based or services that can be provided remotely over the internet are technically available worldwide and have no local relevance.

So again, although it has hurt me as a Web & Graphic Designer where I see less potential clients finding me locally that ultimately would have lead to an in-person meeting and landing the project; I understand Google's decision.

Too many people can abuse the local directory by stuffing locational keywords and the bottom line is they have just decided to give precedence to actual brick and mortar store fronts and filter out all the rest.

I just wish I would/could read more clear and concise explanations like that from the horses mouth.

Thanks, Bryan

I've been doing SEO using <a HREF="http://www.rd-software.net" rel="nofollow">Search Engine Optimisation Wales</a> for quite some time now. I've treated Google as somewhat of a bible. I've dissected its capabilities and have understood its limitations. What I didn't understand was, how can Google pass up a chance to ally itself with one of the most searched sites using its own browser? It just doesn't make any sense for them to create competition at that time. They should have just jumped on the bandwagon and helped make something that is already great even better.
