£16.50 SEO Services – taking the Pi&S?

I searched ‘seo company‘ today in Google.co.uk and the top sponsored ad below caught my eye:

I thought to myself £16.50 for SEO services, wow now that’s a bargain!

I decided to click on the ad to find out more (approx £2.00 paid to Google from the £16.50, £14.50 left)…

The deal for £16.50 is as follows (20% off with promo code, so my maths tell me £14.50  - 20% = a healthy £11.60 left in the kitty):

The icing on the cake…  I also get 500k  directory submissions and links throw into the mix. Bloody hell, that’s incredible,   it’s a deal I simply can’t resist. I shall let you know how I get on. I’m sure Google won’t notice what’s going on here, I’ll take the risk.

Now I challenge SEO companies out there to devise an SEO offering to compete with this mighty £16.50 deal, the answer to all our SEO prayers.   Feel free to comment below…

Fresh thinking indeed….

Back To The Future, With Google +1 & Compunet

Social Media, from the 1980s

Compunet MailboxIn 1984 Commodore UK launched a service called Compunet. Compunet offered downloads, information pages, electronic mail, bulletin board systems, online gaming and chat rooms. All a UK home user had to do was buy a modem for their Commodore 64, make an adjustment to their phone line and away they went.

Compunet also offer users the exciting prospect of teleshopping, telebanking, the buying and selling of real estate, insurance quotes, and much more.

Amazingly, given the recent discussion surrounding Google +1, the Google Panda update, and social media in general, Compunet actually allowed users to vote on content, ala a Facebook Like or a Google 1+. In 1984.

Why we should all stop being lazy with our content

It has happened more times than I can count, you find an article that looks likely to be interesting and useful then actually, 500 words in, you realise it is just keyword stuffed sentences strung together to shoehorn in an anchor text or populate a blog. Not only is this tedious, but as an SEO consultant I don’t want to just fill the web with hogwash.

Previously, keywords in titles, keywords as the first word in the text and links in the first few lines were the given method to ensure your content was optimised for your keywords. However, these practices are now dated, scream spam signals and are ultimately unnecessary.

Vegemite vs Marmite

If you are wondering why on earth this blog post is about Marmite vs Vegemite, then you’re obviously not a fan of either of these two wonderful spreads. That’s fine, each to their own.

If on the other hand if either of these two amazing spreads makes you go as crazy as a cat on catnip, then you are not alone. I love Marmite and on my travels around the world I have learned to appreciate the Marmites distant cousin – Vegemite.

On Friday the photography studio next door was filled with culinary treats for a hamper photo shoot and at the end of the day these cakes started to appear in the Blueclaw office.

I’m all for homemade donuts, strawberry flans and profiteroles. However at the end of the day, I’m really a savoury kind of guy. So this Sunday morning I decided to invent something new (or so I thought at the time).

Obviously in order to produce a new masterpiece, it is necessary to experiment at least one rival, in this case Vegemite. Before I started I needed some facts, where best to start than the labels;
