Seven Days in Search – SEO Digest – 17th–24th April 2017

SEO is a fast-moving discipline at times, but even when there aren’t rumblings from Google and SERP-watchers about algorithm changes and penalties, there are always snippets of insight that highlight how the world of search is evolving on a weekly basis – hence this regular feature.

Last week’s Seven Days in Search roundup is here.

Here’s the Blueclaw roundup of the three top stories of the previous Seven Days in Search:

Bing Ads Editor Gets Review Extension Support, Better Keyword Import & More

Fresh changes have been incorporated into Bings Ads Editor’s new release in order to magnify the keyword import process; add assistance for Review Extensions and save time for advertisers when creating remarketing audiences.

These alterations enhance functionality, upgrade its features and eradicate problems within the Bing platform.

This development will permit managing of the third-party reviews and reviews will now be able to be effortlessly copied/pasted, edited or associated with accounts. The smarter keyword input means Bing Ads Editor now has the inability for the software to differentiate between match types on a keyword list that utilises symbols to dictate match-type.

Version v11.10 will also enable users to regulate bid modifiers when constructing an audience association.

Earth Day Google Doodle Offers Up Conservation Tips To Help Save The Planet

The official date for Earth Day may be April 22, but Google promoted its green outlook a day early through the use of doodle. The Google Doodle team pledged their support for the World Wildlife Fund, The Ocean Agency, and The Jane Goodall Institute through the creation of a slide show consisting of animated images reminiscent of a children’s book.

The notion thought up by doodler Sophie Diao is a series of illustrations telling the story of a fox dreaming about a world with polluted oceans and suffering through the unsympathetic impact of climate change. Upon waking, the fox begins to make tiny changes during his day that lead to heightened energy-conservation efforts.

As well as providing invaluable advice surrounding the preservation of our planet, the workforce “honour the rich, vast Earth that’s sustained generations before us and continues to nurture life and inspire wonder,” writes the Google Doodle team on its blog, “At an estimated 4.543 billion years of age, the Earth is still the only known object in the Universe known to harbour life.”

Apple Expanding Successful Search Ads To Three New English-Speaking Markets

Since its launch in October 2016, app-store Search Ads has grown from strength to strength.

Praise has come from all directions with the tool being rated as a high-converting, high-value app discovery device.  Apple has now announced that Search Ads will become available in the UK, Australia and New Zealand.

The company believes its success is because it places the spotlight on ad relevance, therefore taking priority over bid price. To all intents and purposes, there is no method for a less germane app-install ad to beat a more relevant one with higher bidding.

The app-install market, which depicts a substantial component of mobile advertising revenue today, is worth in excess of five million dollars.
