Scouring the internet today as I do from time to time I came across a really interesting wordpress plugins article from Dreamhost. Dreamhost host over half a million WordPress blogs and decided to compile some research on the most popular plugins installed by their users. Now if this isn’t compelling data then I don’t know what is. These are comprehensive statistics which are measured against an extremely high volume of WordPress users.

Some on the list might not be a surprise to you but some of the others you might not already have and may enjoy checking them out just like I am right now. These are what people are installing which may be able to benefit you in the future.

The top 5 is an interesting one. Those denoted with a star are already installed plug ins however 2 of the top 5 are the Google sitemap generator and the all in one seo pack (yay for SEO). Google sitemap generator is installed and used on 12% of all the blogs hosted on Dreamhost. Quite remarkable statistics.

What to do with this?

As I mentioned above there could be one or two plugins you’ve missed which could help your website significantly. It’s always useful to search for popular plugin lists as there are fantastic plugins available which could really enhance your business/blog.
