Currently, all important content, is mostly found within either a <div> or a <span> HTML tag. I cannot emphasise the importance of content from an SEO perspective enough but here I shall focus on the HTML tags the content is found within. You may ask what is the importance of what tag is used for your content? Now there may not be a huge difference but in the future it seems that the HTML tags your content is found within may have a significant impact upon Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and your website.

The Importance of Keyword Type
As I have mentioned in a previous post, the major search engines currently rely on keywords to index and rank websites in their search results. Therefore, keyword research is the first step in Search Engine Marketing (SEM) campaigns. How much search volume is there for this keyword/ keyphrase? How much competition is there for this phrase? Can I beat this competition? There is a lot of work in the stage of keyword research alone, never mind the implementation of the optimisation of the chosen keywords. As a result, when a website gains one of those coveted top ten positions in Google, it is commonly assumed that the sales will come rolling in and it’s a case of job done. However, this is not always the case. Traffic will no doubt increase with a top ten ranking, but this does not automatically mean conversions will increase to the same extent. More traffic can never do any harm, but if you are looking to maximise your conversions then taking another look back at your keyword research may be of benefit to you.
The Future of Search?
The dominating search engines of the present, with Google leading the charge, all base their rankings on keywords. In order to rise in the rankings of the top search engines businesses currently need to target and promote specific keywords. When a business’ niche is such that different keywords are relevant to the site the current keyword based search engines can force businesses and SEOs to make a decision at the start of an SEO campaign to target one keyword more aggressively than another other. There are only so many keywords that a home page can be optimised for before diluting the effect specific keywords are having. However, there may be a solution to this problem in the way search engines may look to develop in the future.
Pinging Your Sitemap To Google, Yahoo!, MSN, and even Ask

You have gone through the whole kafuffle (first time I have ever wrote kafuffle in my life) of creating a sitemap so it’s a shame not to tell the search engines about it. The following therefore are links that allow you to ping your sitemap to Google, Yahoo!, MSN and even Ask:
