Niche Specific Content

Recently we have been focussing heavily upon the importance of content on your website. It is always useful to bear in mind that the search engines can only read text so even if your website has relevant pictures, logos and colour schemes, whilst they may be pleasing to the eye they will do nothing to aid your search engine rankings. Alt tags can show the search engines what keywords your pictures are relevant for, however, paragraphs of text are paramount for the success of your website on the search engines. We have already seen how to write content for your site in a recent post but here I shall focus on the importance of nice specific content.

The very fact that it is your site that you are writing for you will undoubtedly already have a wealth of knowledge relevant to the subject topic and niche of your site. Whilst writing search engine friendly copy is a skill well worth spending the time to develop it is by no means the only goal to be targeting whilst writing content for your site.

With a cluster of paragraphs with relevant keywords combined with the right on-page optimisation a web page can make reasonable progress on the search engines, however, if the content of these paragraphs contains nothing out of the ordinary i.e. it does not offer much benefit/ insight/ entertainment to the reader ‘reasonable’ success is all a SME can realistically hope to achieve. It is via niche specific content that further success, higher rankings, and increased traffic can be found.

If your website imparts useful information or content that entertains the reader then other webmasters will naturally link to your website, and in doing so will help improve your search engine results. This process is known as link baiting. The beauty of it is that you don’t have to do anything extra to what you should be doing anyway. Rather than rushing the process of writing content for your site, by spending a little extra time to make your content more beneficial for the reader you can make a crucial difference to the amount of backlinks and consequently the amount of traffic your site receives.

As well as writing niche specific content, writing regularly for your website and/ or blog will keep not only your readers coming back but also the search engines will visit regularly to index your updated/ new content and this will only help your search engine positioning, keeping everyone happy.
