Visual.ly – A platform for exploring Visual Data

Many exciting website ideas come and go; but in this instance a new website called Visual.ly will be launching in the very near future. With the site awaiting to be launched, we can’t fully show you how to use the platform, but we can give you an insight into what will be featured in this new and fascinating website. A website that I can see being highly popular.

What Is Visual.ly?

The idea comes about the fact that, in this day and age we live in the form of content creation and data collection. Visualising the data into a specific platform, it will help promote, share and explore some wonderful visualisations. An aim of Visual.ly is to solve the problem of hiring designers to showcase the data that you have by providing a reporting, editing and design team. This in theory should provide a one stop shop for anybody needing an infographic.

The best way of showing what Visual.ly actually is via this video:

We aren’t fully sure of the launch date, however we fully imagine that the launch date will be soon.

Who Will Use Visual.ly?

We will find that serious bloggers and publishers will be using Visual.ly on a regular basis, to showcase their data in a creative manner, rather than textual facts and figures. At the moment we see in the region of 1.5 billion pieces of content on Facebook, 2 million videos added to YouTube and 140 million Tweets.

Signing Up To Visual.ly?

Registering on the website is very easy, in which you can do so via entering in your details via the form on the homepage of the website (see here). Please bare in mind though, that this process will more than likely change, once the website has been launched.

To incentivise sign ups, Visual.ly are using a service called LaunchRock

Will Visual.ly Be Successful?

For starters, there are many pro’s and con’s to infographics, which will play an important part in the success or downfall for Visual.ly. For instance, infographics are growing in popularity with internet users and business owner, whilst also being an effective method of viral marketing.

Unfortunately the downside of starting a platform like this will see many other platforms, designed and created. Thankfully though, Visual.ly have already recognised this and have admitted by saying: “We’ll have to be nimble,” admits Langille. “As this market evolves, we’ll have to evolve with it.”

Visual.ly also say: “Because in the future we imagine an immersive world of interactive visualization everywhere,”

Initial instincts suggest that the platform will be successful. in which it already has a good following on twitter. To date (9th May) it has 6,335 followers and listed on 188 accounts. This is BEFORE launch, so I imagine that once it launches, it’ll be extremely popular.

Conclusion

I’m eagerly anticipating the launch of the website to see what it can fully offer to me in the SEO field, but also for advertisers and publishers.
