Blueclaw Away Day - Sun, Treasure and Shuffle

Roundhay Park Blueclaw

The Blueclaw team headed to beautiful Roundhay Park in Leeds for our Summer Away Day, encompassing an unexpectedly energetic treasure hunt, numerous photobombs and a post-park evening of food, beverages and the latest game sweeping the nation - shuffleboard.

The treasure hunt saw us divided into teams in a race to solve clues across the entire 2.8 km² of Roundhay Park, resulting in feverishly competitive content specialists deciphering riddles, SEO experts navigating tricky terrain and web developers blinking in unaccustomed levels of sunshine.

A few snaps were taken along the way:

Some even found time for ice cream…though it’s worth noting that this team lost:

This relentlessly serious team didn’t:

The finale of the evening included the aforementioned shuffleboard. What is a shuffleboard? Well..it looks something like this -

We actually played the Dutch version of shuffleboard, known as sjoelen, which is defined by Wikipedia as making use of:

“….a long, unidirectional board placed on a table in which the goal is to slide 30 wooden pucks towards the end of the board and try to have them enter through small open doorways or arches into numbered scoring boxes. Each player has 3 sub-turns to get as many pucks in the scoring boxes.”

It’s pretty energetic, competitive and lots of fun - much like the rest of the Away Day!

And what prize did each member of the winning team of the day receive? Well…

Not bad!
