eHarmony capture the nation’s hearts with new content piece

With Valentines Day just around the corner, online dating site eHarmony have recently put together an interactive graphic which reacts every time the word ‘love’ is mentioned on Twitter.
UKheartbeat.co.uk uses Twitter’s Streaming APIs to analyse public tweets containing the four-letter word, which then causes the heart to beat, and the more Tweets there are with ‘love’ in them, the faster the heart beats, and the bigger it will appear. In addition, the site reveals the UK cities where people are most ‘loved up’, and the words most often associated with the word ‘love’ – all in real time.
Initial findings have revealed that as a nation we are most loved up on a Sunday – with a seven per cent increase on posts mentioning the word ‘love’ than on an average day. Quite appropriate seeing as Valentines Day falls on a Sunday this year! At the other end of the spectrum, Brits are least likely to feel the love on a Tuesday at 3am.
Romain Bertrand, eHarmony.co.uk Managing Director, comments: “As experts in love and relationships, we wanted to understand how this four letter word is depicted in the digital world. Using Twitter’s Streaming APIs, we can now track and analyse what and who we ‘love’ as a nation – all in real time. Using this data, we can also pinpoint the most amorous areas of the UK – particularly interesting as we approach Valentine’s Day which is typically thought of as the most romantic day of the year.”
The site will run throughout February, which happens to be National Love Month, and beyond.
